Street Tough Techniques |
|
|
The following techniques are examples of street tough
fighting practice (taken from a forth-coming book 'Street Tough' Fundamentals):-
Distance From either straight punches or wild swings (P29, 30), slip / bend / duck forwards, or enter using a Driscoll parry to get the head on chest clinch position. Any movement of your opponent's arms shoot in for the clinch. (Because you are committing your self-forward towards him, he will not have the leverage to stop you with his punch. It will still hurt if you catch one but you will survive it.) |

The Shoot (Charge)
The shoot or charge, is a method of getting in on the opponent to secure the clinch position. Mythology In reality, a clinch is as certain as night becomes day. Look at professional boxers fight, specialists at punching, but how often during the course of a fight do they clinch? The only way to prove it, if you doubt the establishment of the shoot and clinch is to let someone who understands and uses the concept really try to get in on you. Feel free to try to hit him as hard as you can, or spin / turn, what ever your preference. You will soon change your mind. To summarise, if a fighter is intent on getting inside for a clinch, they will get it. Shoot Mechanics 1. From an on-guard position, probe with your lead hand towards the opponent's face. With this shoot, the most basic, simply cover your face with both your arms, shoot in while level changing, (through the lower window of combat), and establish a clinch while keeping pressure on him. Without loosing momentum drive him into a wall etc, or take him to the ground directly if that is your intention. (P13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18) |
